In this installation a large flat screen monitor displays an animation of a life cycle. Red cells form on a grid and die and multiply producing an image that is continually in flux as it grows and reseeds over time. The animation is controlled by a formula on a computer program, housed on a hard drive at the other end of the room. The hard drive uses a modem to source information from the Reuters news agency at regular intervals. This information is fed into the formula producing the animation. A single red beam transports this information from the hard drive via a cryptographic laser transmitter, which uses quantum physics to scramble information into a chaotic state. The information is then received by another device, which unscrambles the information and displays it on the monitor. The viewer can obstruct the single beam of light, at any time. This will cause the life cycle to be destroyed and begin again.
